Congress’s ‘gayab’ remark sparks row over PM Modi’s unity

The row over the ‘gay’ poster became more confusing when the BJP organized a press conference and described the “sar tan se juda ideology of Lashkar-e-Pakistan (Congress)”. The Congress’ gay or missing poster intended to target Prime Minister Narendra Modi regarding the Pahalgam terror attack backfired hours after the party posted it on its social media platforms on Tuesday.

From the ex-Pakistani minister’s response raising eyebrows to draw comparison to ‘sar tan se juda’ slogans during the Nupur Sharma row — the Congress post evoked a scathing response. Leaders averred that at a time when everyone needs to be on the same page on the Pahalgam terror attack stand, the Congress is being “influenced by Pakistan”.

In the immediate aftermath of the strike, the Opposition’s response has been cautious. The political parties have been treading the thin line of lending their unqualified support to the government in whatever course of action it followed against the attackers and their handlers — even as they obliquely pointed a finger at intelligence and security failings.

While BJP leaders had been abusing Congress since morning, a response from the central government came when Chirag Paswan responded. Paswan, the Union Food Processing Industries Minister, added, “This is wrong.

This is a highly sensitive issue and it is the opposition’s job to gauge the sensitivity of the issue. It is the need of the hour to prove seriousness, as proven by J&K CM Omar Abdullah in the Assembly. If opposition parties like the Congress do politics over it, this is not good.”.
