Conman ran bogus court posing as fake judge in Gujarat

He preyed upon gullible persons who promised him a quick resolution of their land disputes for a fee.

A shocking scam has been unearthed in Gandhinagar after it was found that a man, Morris Samuel Christian, posing as a judge, had presided over a rather fake tribunal for several people embroiled in land disputes since 2019.

Christian ran the entire ruse, complete with a mock courtroom set up and inducting associates to masquerade as court personnel, so convincingly that many who approached him believed they were in the real thing.

According to police, Christian was the mastermind behind this elaborate ruse. He used his gavel to pass judgment in favor of his clients, all within the fabricated walls of his office.

Christian turned out to be a preying ground for some poor people who promised speedy redressals to the land disputes in exchange for hefty fees. The previous judge seized the position of a judge by exploiting the helpless and hijacking the judicial course for personal benefit.

In such a case, Christian acted in his favor by passing an order directing the district collector to include his client’s name in the revenue records of government land in the Paldi area.

Without authority or order issued by any court under the Arbitration and Conciliation Act, Christian told his client he had been appointed as the government’s “official arbitrator.”

Officials said the conman then initiated fake proceedings at his ‘court’ and passed an order in favor of his client, directing the collector to add his client’s name to the revenue records of that land.
