Indeed, the popular Indian politician of Delhi and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convenor, Arvind Kejriwal, was recently arrested by CBI and was taken to CBI custody for three days by the Delhi court on Wednesday.
The arrest occurred in affiliation with the Delhi excise policy affair, which has been ringing a political bell in the national capital. Hear the special judge Amitabh Rawat that this arrest of Kejriwal was owing to the “factum of investigation leading the arrest of the accused, the role ascribed to him and which is necessary to confront him with the evidence.
However, the court did not deem the arrest unlawful, The court conceded that the timing of the action could have been ‘circumspect’, but that cannot be the only criterion to claim that the arrest was unlawful.
Despite that, Kejriwal did not plead guilty and insisted that the CBI has been seeking to ‘sex-up’ the case. He has not provided any statement against his deputy, Manish Sisodia, or any other individual. However, the CBI said that Kejriwal himself is one of the principal offenders connected to the anomalies on the now canceled excise policy of 2021-22.
The judge instructed the CBI not to be overzealous, directed the medical examination for Kejriwal, Soin personally, and allowed daily meetings with his wife and lawyer. The ruling about Kejriwal has drawn much criticism from his fans, who accused the CBI of being biased in discharging its duties.
As the case transpires further, the political scenario in Delhi is caught in an intense struggle where the AAP government and the opposition parties are blaming each other. Thus, Delhi citizens remain waiting for a sensible solution expressing the best concepts of justice and a democratic state.
