A dramatic twist in the day, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal ended up squarely in the centre of the Enforcement Directorate fire, claiming him guilty of deliberately manipulating his blood sugar level. The allegation is that Kejriwal found out that he was eating mangoes, sweetcorns, and tea with sugar while saying that he is on a strict diet for diabetes.
In the course of the recent hearing in court, Kejriwal sought for neutral monitor of his blood sugar level and a doctor’s evaluation. Nevertheless, the Special Public Prosecutor, Zoheb Hossain, the defence’s adversary, claimed that Kejriwal’s regular consumption of soft drinks alongside black tea throughout the hearing diminished his alleged claims of high diabetes. Therefore, this might be an indication for wrongful conspiracy to obtain a bail.
The defense lawyer, Advocate Vivek Jain, questioned the prosecution’s intentions and stated that they were exploiting the media by putting forward one-sided arguments. Besides, Jain told the court that engagement to drop the case and a renewed, revised one would follow Kejriwal’s recall of it.
Pending the medical tissue in jail authorities, the court is waiting to have Kejriwal’s diet report. However, the Chief Minister is currently under judicial custody and staying at Tihar Jail. He was detained by the Enforcement Directorate concerned with an investigation into a financial case linked to money laundering of the cancelled excise policy.
In addition, a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) has been filed in the Delhi High Court. The PIL, however, contends for permission to hold virtual meetings with the legislative assembly members and cabinet ministers. Moreover, the PIL advocates the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting to stop the media misinformation and intense news reporting about the collapse of governance in Delhi.
But as the legal process for Arvind Kejriwal and the results of his criminal cases regarding his blood and sugar levels continue, all eyes must remain on Kejriwal.
