Cop who shot Badlapur accused worked with top ‘encounter specialist

Four days after two young schoolgirls were gang-raped, police yesterday shot dead Akshay Shinde, a 24-year-old who was accused of the crime at a school in Badlapur town of Thane district.

Badlapur sexual assault accused Akshay Shinde shot dead: The police inspector who shot dead the accused in a case of sexual assault of two minor girls at a school in the outskirts of Mumbai has reportedly worked with suspended former ‘encounter specialist’ Pradeep Sharma in the past.

Akshay Shinde is accused of sexually assaulting two minor girls at a school in the Badlapur town of Thane district. He is 24 years old.

A contractual sweeper working at the school in Badlapur, Akshay Shinde, was picked up from his home on August 17, five days after he allegedly sexually abused the two girls in the school toilet.

Thane: During the alleged snatching of a policeman’s gun, a Mumbra Bypass man was killed on Monday evening.

An official earlier said he was being ferried in a police vehicle as part of a probe into a case registered against him on the complaint of his former wife.

An official said, “After he shot and injured an assistant police inspector, another officer from the police escort team fired at him, and doctors at the Kalwa Civic Hospital declared him dead.”.
