Couple attacked by mob on Pune road; Shocking video emerges

A 42-year-old software engineer from Sus, Pune, was allegedly chased and attacked along with his wife by unidentified bikers on the Lavale-Nande Road late on Saturday. The victim’s car was targeted and damaged with iron rods near Nande village as the attackers tried to make them stop.

The couple escaped from the mob and reached home in Sus, after which a police complaint was filed. According to the victim, Ravi Karnani, while on their way on the Lavale-Nande Road, a group of locals attacked their vehicle with sticks and rods.

The attackers chased them at speeds of 80 mph on two motorcycles and a car, Karnani stated in his complaint. We have been attacked! Approximately 40 people divided into different groups with iron rods, stones, and sticks had targeted our car. Two bikes and a car full of local goons chased us with full acceleration. The local police supported them and said they were patrolling,” he wrote on X along with the video of the attack.

Karnani remembered that the horrific experience started after the couple had dinner at a friend’s place in Bhukum near Bhugaon. The couple was accompanied by their pet while taking the Nande route back to Sus. At 1:30 AM, a group of people was seen standing along the road, with some holding iron rods. When asked to stop, Karnani tried to speed away. Then, suddenly, two motorcycles started to follow them, and the pillion riders hit iron rods on their car and asked them to stop the car.
