Court directs FIR against Sitharaman over electoral bonds

Janaadhikara Sangharsha Sanghatane’s Adarsh Iyer has accused Sitharaman and her department of demanding extortionate money via electoral bonds.

After investigating the case, the Special Court for People’s Representatives ordered the registration of an FIR.

A Bengaluru court on Saturday asked Karnataka police to register an FIR against Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman for extortion under the much-criticized electoral bond scheme.

Adarsh Iyer, a member of the Janaadhikara Sangharsha Sanghatane, has accused Sitharaman and her ministry of extortion through electoral bonds.

The case was analyzed, and the Special Court for People’s Representatives ordered the Tilak Nagar police station to file an FIR.

In addition to the finance minister, several other top brass BJP leaders have also been included in the complaint, such as Union Health Minister and BJP National President JP Nadda, BJP Karnataka President Nalin Kumar Kateel, along with many ED officials, according to a report by News18.

In the complaint, they alleged that they had drawn up plans to squeeze money through electoral bonds by misusing the raids they conducted.

We allege that Nirmala Sitharaman is misusing her position as finance minister to benefit her party, which is ruling at the Centre. That is where extortion comes into the picture, Iyer told News18.
