The Court analyzed the accused who skipped the court appearances in Rohini for Rs 30,000 as a fine.
The judge of Rohini Court, in the case of Sanjeev Chaddha, imposed a fine of Rs 30,000 on the accused. It was why he was rarely seen presenting his case in Court during that period.
Earlier, the Delhi High Court directed Chaddha to report before the trial court and grovel unconditionally. On the other hand, he disobeyed this command.
Metropolitan Magistrate Divya Arora impresses a fine(pun). She pointed out that Chaddha is guilty of absconding courts on different grounds. The Court stood on this point from his file.
Moreover, on February 19, the Court directed Chaddha to pay the fine to DLSA North-West. It was because it had been again.
The case originates from a 2019 cheating FIR at Keshav Puram police station. After that, Delhi police submitted a charge sheet against two accused, including Chaddha.
Moreover, on December 13, 2023, the High Court had instructed Chaddha. He had to physically appear before the trial court and apologize for the inconvenience. However, he overlooked this directive as well.
To conclude, the Rohini Court enforced the fine to uphold judicial discipline. Chaddha repeatedly avoided personal appearances despite High Court orders. So, this monetary penalty aims to reinforce the Court’s authority.
