Unfortunately, one CRPF soldier succumbed to the attack in the Jiribam district of Manipur on Sunday in a rather unfortunate event. The incident was reported in the Mongbung village, and the attackers are believed to be Kuki militants.
The deceased soldier has been named Ajay Kumar Jha, a 43-year-old from Bihar state. The breaking news is rather heinous as the attacker decapitated the soldier; Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh expressed his anger at such heinous action and expressed his condolence to the deceased soldier’s bereaved family.
Ethnic crises have characterized Manipur for some time now as The ethnic conflict between the dominant Meitei and other tribal groups has been prolonged for quite some time.
The conflict has already resulted in the loss of lives, with a number lying between several hundred and forced dislocation of up to 67000 people. There has been a worrying tendency of the division between the valley-based Meiteis and the hill-based tribal people.
Further, three CRPF soldiers and three Manipur Police personnel were also wounded in the ambush that occurred at around 9:40 am. At the same time, a combined team of security forces was on the way to a village in the region.
Indeed, lately, Jiribam has witnessed a violence spree as the tribals and Meiteis have been attacking each other in succession. In the earlier part of this week, the house of a Kuki tribal leader, Seijathang Khangsai, was burnt, and a Meitei man was murdered, leading to pulling of indignation. It raged on: four to five villages saw accounts of several Meitei houses that were burned to ashes.
Due to the unfortunate demise of a CRPF soldier, the time has arrived when the unions should enter into an amicable agreement in Manipur to solve ethnic crises.
Since the state is currently facing this catastrophe, the authorities must continue to struggle for the stabilization of the situation, the preservation of the life of all citizens, and the prevention of the factors provoking the conflict.
