Deadly stampede at hathras ‘Bhole Baba’ satsang claims 121 lives

Electing to get even more tragic, this time, a stampede happened during a religious event led by a fake ‘saint’ known as ‘Bhole Baba’ in Uttar Pradesh’s Hathras district, which wiped out 121 people. The former constable, who turned godman and known as Narayan Sakar Hari, condemned the tragedy and mourned over the incident.

The ‘Satsang’ had indeed drawn a large crowd, exceeding 2. 5 lakhs of devotees, which overwhelmed the authorities’ allowed figure of 80,000 people. The stampede started when people began scooping the dust on the floor where Bhole Baba’s car had run over, creating haste in which men, women, and children threatened to fall on each other.

The prime accused in the case, Madhukar Devprakash, known as the ‘mukhiya sewadar’ of the ‘Satsang,’ has been arrested from Delhi. But Madhukar’s lawyer says his client was not arrested but had laid down his weapons and surrendered.

The Uttar Pradesh government has not wasted much time; regarding the matter, they have formed a three-member Special Investigation Team (SIT) and a three-member judicial commission to investigate the incident.

It may be recalled that Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has been informed on the preliminary report of SIT that the authorities are equally sensitive towards the issue and are trying their best to deliver justice and extend their sympathy towards the grieving families.
