Fresh developments report that Zeeshan Siddique, son of NCP leader Baba Siddique, and Bollywood actor Salman Khan have received death threats. This is in light of the gruesome murder of Baba Siddique in Mumbai, allegedly at the hands of members of the Bishnoi gang. For this development, a suspect named Mohammad Tayyab, alias Gurfan, who is 20 years old, was arrested today in Noida.
The threatening calls were learned to have been made on October 25 evening, after which the police registered a case after a complaint was lodged by Zeeshan Siddique’s office. This incident comes close on the heels of the shooting outside his office on October 12, in which Baba Siddique was celebrating Dusshera with fireworks.
Apart from the death threats, the caller also demanded ransom money from both Zeeshan Siddique and Salman Khan. Tayyab was arrested on Tuesday morning in Noida’s Sector 39, and the Mumbai Police will likely bring him back to the city under transit remand.
Zeeshan Siddique formally joined the Ajit Pawar-led NCP faction on the same day, nearly three months after Congress expelled him for alleged cross-voting in the Maharashtra legislative council elections. Joining the party is an emotional decision, he said, and he announced his decision to contest the forthcoming Maharashtra Assembly elections on November 20 from the Bandra East constituency—a seat which he had won in 2019 as a Congress candidate.
He had been a two-term Congress MLA for the undivided Bandra seat before quitting earlier this year to join the NCP. In the probe into Siddiqui’s murder, police have so far arrested 15 persons. A Bishnoi gang member claimed responsibility for the killing, saying that Siddique was targeted because of his proximity to Salman Khan.
