A day into the probe into the Rohini blast in Delhi, Chief Minister Atishi has attacked the ruling BJP over the law and order situation in the national capital. The explosion took place on Wednesday morning at 7:47 am in Prashant Vihar’s CRPF school and caused damage to the school wall, breaking car windowpanes and affecting shop hoardings in the vicinity. No injuries were reported. Multiple security agencies, including the Delhi Police Special Cell, NIA, CRPF, and NSG, are investigating.
Atishi pointed at the blast in an X post to indicate how dreadful Delhi’s law enforcement has become. “The responsibility to maintain law and order in Delhi lies with the BJP’s central government,” she said. While ignoring this, the BJP tries to disrupt the work of Delhi’s elected governments. “It has resulted in red tape, open gunfire, extortion by gangsters, Mumbai-underworld-style incidences, and a culture of impunity amongst criminals. “BJP has no intention and no capability to handle such incidents.
Atishi further warned that if the BJP came to power in the Delhi government, the condition of the hospitals, power, and water supply would also be similar to that of the current law and order situation.
While responding, BJP leader Shazia Ilmi rejected Atishi’s remarks and termed her a “puppet CM” who always blames the central government. She said things were under control and lashed out at Atishi for playing a political blame game over this serious incident.
With elections in the national capital due in February, the ruling Aam Aadmi Party, which has been in power for a decade now, is pulling out all stops to seek a third term. The party’s chief, Arvind Kejriwal, resigned last month after his arrest in a corruption case relating to the now-repealed liquor policy; he said he would return only after being re-elected by the people. Atishi has since taken over as Chief Minister.
The Delhi Police have registered a case under the Explosives Act and initiated an in-depth investigation into the blast. Forensic teams and sniffer dogs were sent to collect evidence at the spot. Initial reports suggested that a crude bomb was used.
A white powdery substance was found at the spot, which is being tested. Police are analyzing the CCTV footage to trace suspects in this connection, and sources said that the conspiracy angle is also being given weight. The area is still cordoned off. BJP leader and Rohini MLA Vijender Gupta visited the site of the blast and termed it a serious incident, although no casualties took place.
