Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has approached the Supreme Court after the Delhi High Court rejected his petition against his arrest in the Delhi excise policy case. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has been demanding Kejriwal’s resignation, but the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) asserts that he has not been convicted in any case.
Kejriwal’s lawyer, Rishikesh Kumar, stated that they have the right to challenge the order and are waiting for the detailed order from the High Court to file an appeal in the Supreme Court.
The Delhi High Court ruled that Kejriwal’s arrest was not in violation of the law and that questioning the timing of the arrest in the absence of any malicious intent by the Enforcement Directorate is not justified.
AAP leader Saurabh Bharadwaj disagreed with the High Court’s decision and announced their intention to approach the Supreme Court. He claimed that the case was a political conspiracy to undermine the Chief Minister and raised doubts about the investigation, highlighting that no illegal money has been recovered so far.
Kejriwal’s arrest and subsequent legal battle have sparked political tensions. The BJP demands his resignation, while the AAP defends his innocence.
