In a calculated political move before the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal appeared alongside his wife, Sunita Kejriwal, during an election campaign at the Gandhi Nagar constituency east of Delhi. It is the most discussed move as Kejriwal tries to gather support for the INDIA alliance.
When speaking from a street corner meeting, Kejriwal compared his wife’s efforts to those of the Mughal era Jhansi ki Rani, as she led the fight from the front while he was temporarily detained. One can see this as a symbolic connection to the electorate to achieve a certain effect.
Kejriwal also poked fun at the ruling BJP and said that as better times are around the bend, Modi Sahib is exiting. Kejriwal also did not hide his confidence in the INDIA alliance, and he said people were annoyed by issues like inflation and unemployment during the BJP dispensation.
The presence and speeches of Kejriwal, alongside his wife, have made the election campaign more interesting and active than ever. The curious case by the Lok Sabha poll results awaited for June 4 in the nation will not stop the fight for power up to Delhi’s doorsteps.
