A Delhi court has remanded Manish Sisodia, former deputy chief minister of Delhi, to police judicial custody till April 18 in connection with the Delhi excise policy scandal for allegations of money laundering. Special CBI Judge Kaveri Baweja passed the order after Sisodia was presented in front of the court which was in connection with the expired period of his judicial remand. Sanjay Singh- the co-accused whom the Honourable Supreme Court Court just granted bail-also appeared before the court.
Sisodia was detained by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on February 26th, 2023, in relation to the alleged involvement of his name in the aforementioned scam, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) citizens on March 9th, 2023, on the charge of money laundering.
Sisodia’s counsel tried to prove in the court that the ED had not traced the money trail that could have led to him on the basis of which the bail request can be granted since the veracity of the claims made against him is yet to be established.
The case is led by the fact of the corrupted act made in revising the Delhi Excise Policy, involving arbitrariness, depreciation of licensing fees, as well as the extensions of the licenses without approval.
And in a different trial in the case of Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal, the judicial custody order extends till April 15. Kejriwal calls it a BJP political plot as the central agencies of the gov. are utilized against his gov.
