Delhi Court sends Kejriwal to 14-Day custody in excise policy scam

A major update: Delhi’s Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has been shifted to judicial custody in the case related to alleged arbitrary in the excise policy for 2021-22 and was lodged in Tihar jail and later transferred to Tihar jail till July 12.

Kejriwal was arrested by the Central Bureau of Investigation on June 26. He was produced before the court and first taken into custody by the CBI for three days. But on Saturday again, the court sent him to judicial custody after the Investigating agency had concluded its initial query session.

This case deals with corruption allegations concerning the excise policy in practice when Kejriwal was in office. Kejriwal is already in judicial custody in a different money laundering case concerning the same scam being investigated by the ED.

Advocate presented By: Abhishek Chaudhary for Kejriwal Said that before arresting the chief minister, the CBI had obtained the necessary sanctions and collected the evidence. Chaudhary also prayed the court to order the CBI to lay all the material on record, noting that the agency had told the Supreme Court that it would complete the investigation by July 3rd.

Till now, the CBI has filed 4 charge sheets in the case against 17 accused persons, amongst which include Manish Sisodia and K Kavitha, the BRS leader. Kejriwal, however, has not been named in any of the indictments yet, Although a number of the AAP’s politicians, including Kumar Vishwas and Ish Kumar, have been implicated in the cases.

This agency has averred that out of ₹100 crore that was donated to the AAP as bribes, ₹44 crore was donated with a. ’ hawala channels’ YES Bank admitted that Rs 45 crore was transferred to Goa from June 2021 to January 2022 for election campaign.

The case has already created a lot of political controversy and instability. The AAP accused the central government of using investigative agencies to control the AAP and its leader. The lawsuit proceedings will be time-consuming and have significant implications for the political struggle in the national capital as well as other regions.
