Delhi High Court proposes heavy costs on plea to remove Kejriwal as CM

The Delhi High Court has made an important suggestion that the Arvind Kejrial can be removed from his position as Chief Minister. In the case such a thing happens the costs will be very heavy. The petition for the ex-MLA Sandeep Kumar who is AAP’s party member has judicially generated meaningful debates among the political classes as well.

While giving his ruling, Justice Subramonium Prasad was not happy with the manner in which the petitioner approached this case of national interest. He made his displeasure clear by considering all the petitioner was doing was engaging in a publicity stunt. The Hon’ble Justice Prasad focused on the fact that many previous petitions like this one had previously been dismissed by a division bench headed by a sitting Acting Chief Justice Manmohan. Justice Prasad, furthermore, reminded the petitioner that they must bear the consequences of their actions.

As per the court directive, the charge sheet has been moved to the Courtroom of the Acting Chief Justice for further consideration. Now the court has not dismissed this case as the third one to make Kejriwal’s removal, it leaves us to believe how the legal dispute will evolve and possibly whether Kejriwal will still enjoy being the Delhi’s chief minister.

Kejriwal, now on bail on condition until March 31, was taken into custody by the ED for the alleged offence under the excise policy. The federal agency has sent a notice claiming him being either, the “kingpin” or “key conspirator” of this alleged fraud.

Even as the legal process continues, the whole ordeal simmers around the finesse of Kejriwal’s political career, making both his supporters and his detractors anxious about the eventual outcome.
