At this juncture, Delhi’s Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena has come out in support of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MP Swati Maliwal over the alleged assault on her at the residence of CM Arvind Kejriwal. This has led to an overreaction from the AAP, which has said that the LG’s letter shows that Maliwal is serving the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) interests.
Maliwal has accused the Aam Aadmi Party’s star campaigner Bibhav Kumar, a close friend of Arvind Kejriwal, has manhandling her in the Chief Minister’s drawing room. Still, the AAP has denied the charges leveled by Maliwal and claimed that she stormed inside the Chief Minister’s residence unconventionally.
In a statement, Saxea disclosed that Maliwal verbally explained to him about her traumatic past and how she was concerned that evidence had been tampered with and force was going to be used on her. Saxena has further questioned Kejriwal and his team over the matter by labeling the AAP’s leader as ‘selectively deafening.’
Regarding Saxena’s letter, Harmeet Singh in The Asian Age said that AAP acted like a wounded beast following the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) accused the LG of being a part of a BJP conspiracy. One of the most senior AAP leaders, Saurabh Bharadwaj, described that the “BJP is coming up with new conspiracies every day in the elections,” and the “BJP is losing and Swati Maliwal supports Modi Ji’s sinking boat.”
By openly criticizing and threatening to reduce the LG’s powers, the AAP has thrown a raw gauntlet into the political war of words in Delhi as the city prepares to go to the polls.
