Five family members, including a man and his four daughters, were found dead at their Delhi residence in Vasant Kunj’s Rangpuri Village, the police said on Saturday, suspecting that the victims had allegedly died by suicide after consuming poison.
The police reportedly said they received a call from a resident in the building on Friday who had sensed a foul smell coming from the flat.
The resident added that he had knocked on the door, but they didn’t open it, adding that they were last seen on September 24.
Acting on the complaint, police reached the spot and broke the closed door. No injury marks were found on their bodies, and three packets of poison, glasses, and a spoon were recovered from the flat, said the police in a statement.
The door was bolted from inside, and the police, with help from the fire brigade team, broke open it.
There are two rooms in the flat. A male was found lying dead in the first room itself, whereas four females were found dead in the other room,” the police said in a statement.
The wife of the victim died of cancer a few years ago, and an investigation into this matter is currently underway, the police stated during the initial probe.
