Delhi railway museum evacuated after bomb threat email

In a rather shocking and startling event, an email threat was received by the National Railway Museum in Delhi on Tuesday, stating them a bomb blast was going to happen. This incident occurred in India right inside the Rail Museum- a popular tourist destination dedicated to India’s railway history, where police/armed forces descended into action immediately.

The media has reported that a high-ranking police officer verified that the museum situated in the Chanakyapuri region of the capital received an email with threats, which included a bomb threat. As a response to the threat, police from Delhi and a specialized bomb disposal team arrived at the site of the attack with a search of the building and a sweep of the area.

However, after scrutiny, the authorities concluded that the premise was a mere bluff and the threat was fake. Thus, business at the museum was conducted with no other interruption. The huge hall with a collection of old steam and diesel ferrovie locomotives, rolling stock, documents, equipment, and models has been a favorite for history lovers and children for decades.

This raises the question of safety and calls for additional security measures and collections at such revered institutes. Continuing the investigation of the origin of the threatening message sent through email, the National Railway Museum was perhaps comforted by the effective reaction of the local police, who guaranteed the security of the guests and employees during this disturbing activity.
