Delhi water crisis: AAP Minister launches hunger strike

With the heat intensifying into the El Niño summer period in Delhi, the people in the region struggle to obtain water from tankers. This struggle has continued since Delhi Water Minister and AAP leader Atishi joined the new wave of indefinite hunger strikes on the third day to seek help from the Haryana government to resolve it.

Atishi gets on record stating that Haryana has cut down the water supply to Delhi, resulting in a scarcity of water in the country’s capital. While responding to the issue, Delhi Minister and AAP leader Saurabh Bharadwaj said that Haryana has cut down the water supply of at least 17 MGD to Delhi after the protest by Atishi, totaling the cut down of 117 MGD. He said that this has impacted about 85,000 inhabitants of the country’s national capital with purified water sources.

Bharadwaj also demanded the Delhi Lieutenant Governor, VK Saxena, an appointee of the BJP, that the meeting’s video recordings of him and Atishi,

“The whole BJP and LG VK Saxena appointed by them will be exposed.”

Atishi herself was complaining of a low blood glucose level and was having a seizure when her blood pressure dropped during the protest.
