Cops had been trying to arrest Zoya for decades, but she kept dodging the cops. However, ACP Sanjay Dutt’s Special Cell and Inspector Sandeep Dabas finally were able to trap her in a drugs case.
Delhi’s Special Cell on Thursday arrested the wife of gangster Hashim Baba in a drug-related case. Zoya Khan was arrested with 270 grams of heroin worth around Rs 1 crore. Despite knowing that she managed her gangster husband’s illegal operations, agencies had been unable to gather proof against her—until now.
Hashim Baba, the gangster, is in Tihar Jail facing several cases of murder, extortion, and violation of arms. Hashim Baba’s third wife, Zoya, wedded him in 2017 after getting divorced from her first husband.
Sources add Zoya had a role akin to Haseena Parkar, Dawood Ibrahim’s sister who used to run his illicit business without entering police radar. Zoya was facilitating the gang’s activity from beyond the jail boundaries, assisting in extortion and other offences.
Zoya used to lead a luxurious life, frequently attending upscale parties and brandishing costly labels, as they can be spotted on her social media. She used to frequently meet Baba inside the prison, and their visits were all regarding operating the gang’s business, illegal extortion rackets, and target allocation.
Police had been trying to arrest Zoya for years, but she always managed to evade arrest. However, Special Cell ACP Sanjay Dutt and Inspector Sandeep Dabas finally managed to trap her in a drug case. Acting on a tip-off, the police arrested her from Northeast Delhi’s Welcome area while she was supplying drugs. They recovered 270 grams of heroin worth around Rs 1 crore in the international market.
Investigations showed that Zoya had obtained the drugs from Muzaffarnagar to distribute them further. The Special Cell also suspected her role in harboring shooters in the Nadir Shah murder case and is collecting evidence against her.
Zoya’s family history is also connected with crime. Her mother was arrested in a sex racket case in 2024 and is out on bail, and her father was involved in drug supply. Because of her influence in her locality, Zoya was always accompanied by 4–5 armed henchmen of Baba’s gang.
Northeast Delhi has long been a battleground for gang wars, with groups like the Chenu Gang, Hashim Baba Gang, and Nasir Pehalwan Gang thriving on drug supply and extortion.
