Derailment disaster: Relief efforts underway for Howrah-Mumbai mail victims

The journey of at least five trains has been fully canceled by South Eastern Railway, and four more have been stated to have short terminated/originated. That is why assistance has been arranged for the Howrah Railway Junction of West Bengal passengers through a help desk.

This collision took place close to Badabamboo in Jharkhand with at least two death cases and 20 people injured when 18 coaches of the Mumbai-Howrah Mail were thrown off the rail.

According to the media, the Howara-CSMT Express also met the same fate near Chakradharpur, which connects Rajkharswan West Outer and Barabamboo of Jharkhand’s Chakradharpur division.

Indian railways news agency IANS reported that three coaches were derailed after the train slammed into a goods train. Breaking the news, Md Rehan, the Train Manager of the South-Eastern Railway, told ANI that the fateful event happened at 3:39 AM when the Howara-CSMT Express was running at 120 Kmph. The train accident occurred when a goods train was already off the tracks, on the downline.

The conflict predominantly affects passengers, indicating disruption of rail services and the authorities’ efforts to restore the services. The reasons for the derailment have yet to be determined, although the authorities pledged to do everything in their power to secure the passengers’ safety.
