Diplomatic scandal at Pakistan High Commission in New Delhi

Recently, a shameful episode of attempting to molest an Indian woman servant working at the official residence of Saad Ahmad Warraich, the Charge D’affaires at the Pakistan High Commission in New Delhi was exposed, the accused being a 54-year-old Pakistani national working as a cook for the resident, Minhaj Hussain.

As per the media reports, the victim, a maidservant, stated that Hussain had been making improper advances towards her since his posting in India in February while she was living in the servant’s quarter in the Tilak Marg official residence in New Delhi. See, the woman stated that Hussain had been sexually harassing her, sexually pestering her for sexual relations.

Continuation of the aggression took place when Hussain tried to molest the woman. At least, this is what she complained to Warraich about. However, instead of dealing with it, the source reports that Warraich secretly sent Hussain back to Pakistan in the guise of the Bakrid celebration.

The Pakistan High Commission later demanded that the victim, a widow who was struggling to feed her children, further cease her job and leave Warraich’s premises by June 30. The woman feared more when Hussain returned from Pakistan and resumed his duties at Warraich’s house after the incident.

However, a ‘charge sheet’ is drawn up by the police against a person accused of a crime when the police are ‘satisfied that there is enough evidence’ to proceed with the trial against the accused. As the victim wished to get justice, she went to the Tilak Marg Police Station on June 28 to lodge a complaint against Minhaj Hussain for his alleged indecent act. Hussain faced a rude comeback from the Delhi Police as they registered an FIR for Section 354 of the Indian Penal Code.

Suspectingنج legal action against them, the authorities quickly deported Hussain to Pakistan on June 30. The act has now become a diplomatic issue. The authorities are very sensitive to it and thus promise to take necessary measures to protect the victim’s health.
