New Delhi: On April 3, 2023, the Ministry of Finance published notifications on this new rule that specify the requirements for individuals planning to open CD accounts. The update of the guidelines on Savings Schemes General (Amendment) for the year 2023 states that any person opening an account in schemes like the Senior Citizen Scheme, Sukanya Samriddhi Scheme, Consultative Committee on Public Provident Fund, etc., is now required to use their Adhaar number as a proof of their identity.

Requirement Of Aadhaar

If you want to initiate a savings account for any of the savings schemes listed, you should make sure that your Aadhaar number, issued by the Unique Identification Authority of India, has been submitted. If you don’t yet have the Aadhaar number for the documents, you can still specify it. Aadhaar Submission Timeline

After accounting has been opened, individuals holding the Aadhaar number have to provide that number to the Accounts Office six months from the date they open the account. As a result, the restricted access to the account will continue until a registered Aadhaar number is submitted.

PAN Card Requirement

Besides, the Ministry also added that in some situations, one of the conditions is the PAN number. On the contrary, the PAN should be submitted when opening the account. In other cases, it should be provided within two months when specific circumstances participants the financial relationship.
