Droupadi Murmu appoints BJP’s Mahtab as Lok Sabha pro-tem speaker

Ironically, for the first time in the history of independent India, the Prime Minister has not been assigned the duty of administering the oath of office to the Speaker of the Lok Sabha. At the same time, in a recent development.

President Droupadi Murmu has appointed Bhartruhari Mahtab, a BJP Member of the Parliament, as the Pro-Tem Speaker of the Lok Sabha. This is in preparation for the first session of the first sitting of the 18th Lok Sabha, scheduled to start running on the 24th of June this year.

As announced by Union Minister Kiren Rijiju, under Article 95(1) of the constitution, the President has assigned the honorable member Mahtab to act as the Speaker until the new Speaker assumes office.

This murder mystery involves Mahatab, a member of parliament who had been elected seven times; he recently left the Biju Janata Dal (BJD) Party to become a member of the BJP Party.

He triumphs in the Loksabha election from Cuttak Odisha by gaining a lead of about 57,000 marks. His changeover to the saffron party has also attributed to the BJP electoral gain of over 20 out of 21 seats in Odisha.

There are also 5 other Members of Lok Sabha inc/Suresh Kodikunnil/Thalikkottai Rajuthevar Baalu/Radha mohan singh /Faggan Singh Kulaste/Sudip bandyopadhyay of Aitc, to help the problem speaker for the oath-taking process of the newly elected members.

Congress spokesperson and General Secretary Jairam Ramesh stated that in the convention, which pertains to the Pro-Tem Speaker, he stated that the MP with the most number of terms is elected.

In this case, the two most experienced MPs at the time of writing this paper are Kodikunnil Suresh, an INC party that represents Alappuzha, and Virendra Kumar, an MP of the BJP Party representing Hari Nagar, both of whom are serving their 8th term. Ramesh was right and amazed that the 7-term MP Bhartruhari Mahtab was selected instead.

The first session of the 18th Lok Sabha will start on June 24 with the swearing-in ceremony of the newly elected members, and on June 25, will continue with the election of the new Speaker of the House in India.
