ED conducts fresh raids in Bihar illegal sand mining case

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) conducted new searches on Saturday in Bihar concerning an illegal sand mining case. Sources said that raids were conducted in Arrah, the town of Bhojpur district. The case involves alleged money laundering amounting to Rs 161 crore from illegal mining operations by Broadsons Commodities Pvt Ltd (BCPL) and its directors.

Last week, ED arrested Subhash Yadav, who was linked to RJD in the case. The agency’s case is based on 20 FIRs registered by Bihar Police against BCPL for extracting sand without e-permits.

In July, the ED arrested Bihar MLC and JD(U) leader Radha Charan Sah, his son Kanhaiya, and BCPL directors Mithilesh Singh, Baban Singh, and Surendra Jindal. They are in judicial custody.

ED is searching BCPL’s premises and those of associates. The raids aim to gather more evidence in the money laundering matter linked to an unauthorized sand extraction scam in Bihar. ED’s investigation is ongoing.
