Drastic news was reported when the Enforcement Directorate (ED) filed a money laundering case with reference to the alleged financial corruption at the RG Kar Medical College and Hospital of Kolkata, where a trainee doctor was raped and murdered.
The ED case has been taken based on an FIR filed by the CBI under sections of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA). Among the accused are Sandip Ghosh, the former principal of the RG Kar Medical College and Hospital, and three more Kolkata-based private companies.
The probe agency has collected some banking and medical procurement documents trace and may revert them to the accused soon.
Earlier, the CBI registered a case of alleged financial embezzlement at RG Kar Hospital and took over the inquiry from the SIT constituted by the state government of West Bengal. The CBI arrested the accused, and against them, the agency invoked several sections of the IPC and the Prevention of Corruption Act.
They developed after a very sad incident at the RG Kar Medical College where a 31-year-old trainee woman doctor was found half-naked. Sanjay Roy has been arrested as the main accused, and many people under CBI inquiry have been tested under polygraph examination.
