Election Commission reveals voter turnout for initial phases of Lok Sabha elections

The ECI (Election Commission of India) has made the final voter turnout recorded for the primary two phases of the highly awaited and historic Lok Sabha polls available now in the form of data. Based on what the ECI reported, both election phases had a striking voter turnout: over 66% of the eligible voter population cast their ballot—a voter turnout rate, ECI said.

The first phase on April 19 resulted in 66.14% of voters casting their ballots, while in the second phase conducted on April 26, more people voted; thus, turnout rose to 66.71%. Therefore, behind this new optimism, electoral parties are tirelessly redoubling their efforts, and the campaigns for the remaining constituencies are peaking now.

PM Narendra Modi, who is contesting in Maval, Baramati, Shriur, has extended his full support to Mahayuti candidates striving for the win in Pune. The Pune rally on Monday witnessed him delivering his speech in the presence of a huge crowd. The union ministers Rajnath Singh and Smriti Irani, running on behalf of the existing MPs from Lucknow and Amethi accordingly, submitted their respective nomination papers.

The other voting phase accommodated 88 parliamentary constituencies across 13 states and Union Territories, recording up to 63.50 % of people’s traffic. Stage one, scheduled for April 19, has been planned for every 102 seats of 21 states and Union territories. Coming to the out of 543 total Lok Sabha constituencies, 102 voted till 19th April, followed by 88 on 26th April, respectively.

The forthcoming phases of voting, which are scheduled for May 7, 13, 20, 25, and 1, are programmed to be held on June 4whereby vote counting and results declaration will be done on the same date. The spotlight remains fixed on the two major political alliances: The two major political groups National Democratic Alliance (NDA) of H.E. Narendra Modi’s governance and the Indian National Congress (INDIA) led by the opposition party.
