Congress leader Jairam Ramesh moved fast after Amit Shah stayed Home Minister for a day and said that he made around 150 District Magistrates across the country after the polling was carried out for the Lok Sabha polls, the Election Commission of India ( ECI ) on Sunday evening asked Jairam Ramesh to provide the details of those officers.
The poll body of India in a letter to Ramesh has asked him to provide
“factual information”
about the calls from Prime Minister Narendra Modi that he had tweeted about with the Congress leader famously making the statements in person.
To further make the things clear in its latest official letter penned by Begawan, the poll body pointed out that all the officers are considered by deemed deputation of the Commission during the enforcement of MCC and they always report for any direction to the Commission only.
“However,” the DMs stated, “No DM has claimed any such undue bias as you’ve accused them of…”
The poll body also said that the counting of votes is one of the sacred duties which has been given to each and every RO and such a public statement made by a senior, responsible and experienced leader of a political party tends to raise an element of doubt and hence, should be responded to in the larger public interest.

“But, no DM has complained of any undue influence they received from Ramesh or alleged that Shah had influenced them, or they had contacts with him as alleged by Ramesh and which he believes to be true, the EC had demanded details and information from Jairam Ramesh of 150 DMs, it added.
