Email threats cause panic at CRPF schools amid ongoing investigations

Another threatening email received by the CRPF schools in the country has again sent students and staff, particularly in Delhi, into a tizzy. The same e-mail is suspected to be a hoax but raised a hackle in schools nationwide.

The mail titled “Nitrate-based Improvised EDs in listed school rooms” threatens that the schools should be vacated before 11 am. This comes two months after a blast took place in the CRPF school, Rohini, Delhi, which remained unsolved with the perpetrators still at large.

Sources say the latest e-mail, sent past Monday night, referred to the recent arrest of DMK politician Jaffer Sadiq in a methamphetamine case and said that international pressure has increased. The mail sender implied that such blasts in or around Central Government schools would shift the focus from the so-called family connections of the Tamil Nadu political scene to the case.

He introduced himself as Kiruthiga Devdiya, made a set of allegations against people close to the DMK, and insinuated a larger conspiracy involving political intelligence in Tamil Nadu. The email contained twisted narratives relating to personal relationships and sensitive information regarding several political figures.

The Delhi Police is meanwhile investigating a possible Khalistani link behind a blast inside CRPF school in Rohini’s Prashant Vihar area. They have written to Telegram, a messaging app, seeking information about a group claiming responsibility for the blast through a social media post.

The post, purportedly shared by an entity called Justice League India, read, “This blast is in response to the attacks against the pro-Khalistan separatists by the Indian agencies.” The message had a “Khalistan Zindabad” watermark and was forwarded widely with a video of the explosion on multiple platforms.

The Sunday morning explosion caused considerable damage but fortunately left no injuries. The National Investigation Agency is also investigating the incident. This threat emerges amidst a series of bomb scares that have recently plagued airlines across the country.
