In a significant development, police have said that as many as four terrorists involved in the recent killing of two village guards in Kishtwar district of Jammu and Kashmir were cornered and engaged in an ongoing encounter. The heavy exchange of fire during the encounter left an army officer and another soldier injured.
Terrorism took a twist to become an event when terrorists kidnapped the two defense guards of the village from Adhwari on Thursday and shot at them. The Kishtwar police confirmed that the same bunch of terrorists has now been trapped by security forces.
“An encounter is presently going on between terrorists and security forces in Keshwan Kishtwar. Police said that three to four terrorists are reportedly trapped there. The same group of terrorists killed the two villagers,” police added.
This is the third encounter reported in Jammu and Kashmir within the last 24 hours. Before that, an exchange of fire erupted between terrorists and security forces during an anti-terror operation that was on in the Zabarwan forest area of Srinagar.
“A joint operation by police and security forces was launched in the Zabarwan forest on specific inputs about the presence of terrorists there. An exchange of fire occurred during the operation,” Kashmir Zone Police said.
This was after the neutralization of one terrorist in an encounter in the Baramulla district yesterday. Security forces and state police have launched a joint operation in Rajpura after suspicious activities were detected in the area.
According to the Indian Army’s Chinar Corps, “The encounter broke out after terrorists opened fire at forces. Security forces have neutralized one terrorist in an ongoing operation in the general area of Rajpura, Sopore, Baramulla.”
