The former RAW officer contended that his details, such as address and background, were published worldwide along with his photographs, exposing him to a severe imminent threat to life.
Vikas Yadav, a former officer of India’s spy agency Research and Analysis Wing, who the United States indicted in an alleged plot to murder Khalistani terrorist Gurpatwant Singh Pannun, told a Delhi court Saturday that his life is under severe threats from nefarious elements.
Citing the threat, Yadav sought exemption from physical appearance relating to an extortion and kidnapping case in which he is an accused, and the court allowed his plea. The Delhi Police Special Cell arrested Yadav in December 2023 in connection with the case and granted him bail earlier this year.
Yadav, represented by Advocates RK Handoo and Aditya Chaudhary, said “false and frivolous allegations” were made against him. His details are being widely publicized, which exposes him to serious threats.
“The particulars of the applicant, such as his residence, his background along with his photographs, have been published worldwide, exposing the applicant to a serious threat to his life from nefarious elements,” it said.
The plea further contended that he is being relentlessly pursued by “inimical elements” undertaking continuous surveillance to track him down at all possible locations. Therefore, he has no other option but to seek safety in seclusion.
“The threat to the life of the applicant is clear, present, grave, imminent and potential and physical appearance of the applicant before the court is likely to lend an opportunity to annihilate the applicant,” Yadav’s plea said.
