Exam leaks plague India: A systemic crisis

The kind of alleged leaks and irregularities that have recently been reported in the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET-UG) have raised the consciousness of the nation. However, the tendency of exam leaks has emerged as a big concern in several states of India.

Studying, policemen found a highly ramified criminal structure that works rationally and systematically. In Rajasthan, gangs were complained to have compromised exam centers for getting and selling papers. In an incident that occurred in Himachal Pradesh, a gang hailing from Bihar was able to steal question papers and sell them for lakhs.

In Gujarat, the printing press used to leak the Head Clerk exam paper, conversely in Uttar Pradesh, a gang involved in police constable recruitment. The common Junior Engineer exam of Odisha was also affected by a leakage through a printing press.

These cases advocate for the sociopolitical need for enhanced security measures and a correlation of efforts among state entities to address this emerging disastrous problem.

This occurs at the expense of the education system’s integrity and the pertinent opportunities for deserving candidates at every given level. Public confidence can be earned back only by bringing tougher legal controls, sharper vigil, and openness to more brisk and clearer processes in examinations in India.
