A blast shook the CRPF school at Rohini in Delhi this morning; though no casualties have been reported so far, the school’s wall was partially damaged. Forensic teams and officers of the special cell of Delhi Police have started investigating the cause of the blast.
A video shot by a local resident shows a massive cloud of smoke rising from the vicinity of the explosion. An eyewitness narrated the gossip of a loud noise and smoke.
“I was at home. I heard a loud sound, saw a cloud of smoke, and recorded the video. I do not know anything more. A police team and an ambulance have reached the spot.”
The blast, which occurred near CRPF school in Prashant Vihar at 7:47 AM, drew an immediate response from police. According to senior police officer Amit Goel, experts have been called in to determine the cause of the explosion. In the latest updates, police informed that nothing suspicious has come out so far, and the investigation is being carried out with their view on the underground sewage line.
Eyewitness accounts state the blast shattered glass panes of parked cars and damaged the signboards of shops in the vicinity.
Today, at 07:47 hrs, a PCR call reported a loud blast near the CRPF school in Sector 14, Rohini. SHO and staff reached the spot where they found that the school wall was damaged and that there was a foul smell. Broken glasses were seen in shops and parked cars.
No injury reported,” police said in a statement. The police said a crime team, forensic science laboratory team, and bomb disposal squad have been sent to the site, which has been sealed off. A fire brigade team is also at the site.
The National Security Guard has been informed, and a team will likely visit the site. Sources said that a crude bomb is suspected to have caused the explosion. A white powder-like substance has been found scattered at the site and is being sent for forensic examination.
The Delhi Police have registered an FIR under the Explosives Act and will transfer the case to the special cell. The NIA, CRPF, and NSG are also investigating. The area continues to be cordoned off, and the mapping process continues. The police have started scanning CCTV cameras installed in the vicinity to establish the identity of suspects. The possibility of a conspiracy behind the incident is not being ruled out.
