On Thursday, a loud explosion-like sound was reported near the PVR in the Prashant Vihar area in the national capital. One person sustained injuries due to this incident, said the officials.
The incident took place outside Bansi sweets at 11.48 am, after which the fire tenders were rushed to the spot. The police have cordoned off the area. A special Cell team of the Delhi Police was mobilized to the place.
Delhi Police PRO Addl. CP Sanjay Kumar Tyagi said that police teams and other specialized staff—a special cell, forensics, and other units—were on the spot. He said the cause of the explosion was being ascertained.
“As of now, there is no suspect…The person with minor injuries was discharged after treatment,” he said. According to sources, a white powder-like substance has been found on the spot, which resembled what had surfaced during the CRPF school blast at Rohini on October 20.
An NSG team was drafted to do the bomb data analysis. According to the sources, the NIA will aid the Delhi police in their investigations into the explosion. Visuals after the explosion saw people coughing and gasping for their breath.
