The same Delhi-NCR region saw schools close down after schools due to the authorities receiving email bodies that threatened to bomb the area, leading to the evacuation of students and parents harbouring deep concerns. Delhi Police took action by reporting the rumours to be ignored, and the messages have been circulated on social networking forms like WhatsApp.
The police reiterated to the public that the audio messages circulating on chatting groups. Claiming that strange objects were found in schools are posts rumours that people should not believe. They recommended one to avoid panicking and emphasized the need for people to cooperate in stopping the spread of wrong information.
More than a hundred schools, such as Mother Mary’s School, Mayur Vihar, Delhi Public School, Dwarka, and Sanskriti School, Chanakyapuri, have been sent email blasts warning of a bomb. Police searching privately did not find suspicious items, so they termed the threats hoaxes.
Rather than making any conclusions at first, it was found that the email was, in fact, coming from a Russian domain, though the user manipulated the browser using various anonymous IDs to mask his IP address. The police are taking the plot deeper than it appears and have registered a case under the Indian Penal Code, the IT Act.
The Ministry of Home Affairs, among other things, released a message of confidence to the public that underscored that precautions have been taken and urged them not to panic.
