A desperate father of a doctor of Kolkata died a tragic death by rape and murder inside the RG Kar Medical College and Hospital said it was frustrating that he had to cremate his daughter instead of embalming her. This revelation came when the squashing of Jilo’s life angered family and friends; they held a protest last night with placards at the state-owned hospital.

“We wanted to preserve the body, but the situation went out of hand; the police were on our neck, about 300 to 400 officers were surrounding us, and we had no other option than to proceed with cremation,”
He said.
He claimed that the cremation was done in a rush without informing the family about the expenses incurred during the process. It has been disclosed that some police officers tried to make him endorse a document, and when he would not do it, he tore the document. One time, he also described a senior officer who attempted to lure him with money, which this gentleman turned down.
Some controversies have been raised over the first statements of the hospitals, which said that the woman had committed suicide. This is because the family was forced to wait for over three hours to have a chance to see her remains, and the police are said to have offered some money to the bereaved family, an action that caused much criticism from the public for no compassion.
Sexual harassment The deceased doctor’s aunt was also angered as she said,
“When the body was in front of us, the police were offering money to us. Is this humanity? Yes, they were present with us until the last rites were administered over the dead body, but where were they later? They were offering responsibility that they fulfilled?”
It was on the morning of August 9 that the young doctor was found dead in the seminar hall of the hospital. A postmortem performed by a medical expert in the case showed that she had been strangled to death after being raped with several injuries inside and outside her body_ identified.
In connection with this heinous crime, police have arrested Sanjay Roy, who works as a civil volunteer in the hospital. It has incited anger, and becoming that the culprits were brought to book among the community members.
