Fire engulfs firecracker shops in Bokaro; No casualties reported

According to the police, several makeshift firecracker shops caught fire in Jharkhand’s Bokaro district on Thursday evening. No casualty was reported.

The incident took place near Garga Bridge, which is under the Bokaro Steel City police station area. Local authorities said the fire destroyed 13 to 14 temporary firecracker stalls. The fire has been doused, and investigations are underway to ascertain its cause, said Deputy Superintendent of Police Alok Ranjan of Bokaro City.

Shopkeepers said they had suffered huge financial losses due to the incident and demanded compensation from the district administration. The BJP MLA of Bokaro, Biranchi Narayan, who reached the spot, attacked the district administration and fire brigade for not taking proactive measures. He stated that the fire could have been averted if they acted sooner.
