In a shocking incident on Saturday, five labourers got injured after a 400-kilowatt transmission line tower collapsed in Sahason area, said the police.
Assistant Commissioner of Police (Tharwai) Chandrapal Singh added that the labourers were doing some electrical work for the transmission line which provides electricity to Bengal from Delhi. The team was drawing the wire when the tower suddenly came down and injured the people at the site.
The emergency services immediately rushed to the spot, which rushed the injured to district hospital. Two workers who had received first aid in the district hospital were sent home while three with serious injury were sent to SRN Hospital at Prayagraj.
Authorities have launched an investigation to determine the cause of the collapse. Meanwhile, Kuldeep Gunawat, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Ganganagar, said the incident happened in a rural area far away from urban centers and is unrelated to the preparations underway for the Maha Kumbh festival.
