FM Sitharaman and TMC spar over center-state budget ties

Trinamool Congress,” led by the women MP, attacked Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and accused the union government of totally ignoring the state in the union budget and also in the release of central funds.

The Finance Minister, in his reaction to the ‘not getting central funds’ claims of the Trinamool Congress, said he was amazed that for the last 10 years Bengal has failed to implement many PM Modi-led central government schemes and now has the audacity.

Kicking up a political storm, TMC slammed the Centre, accusing it of not spelling out any special benefits for non-BJP opposition states, which include West Bengal, Telangana, and Punjab.

TMC described the union budget as the ‘Andhra-Bihar’ budget, pointing out that the BJP sought to pacify its Bihar ally, JD(U), and Andhra ally, TMC, thereby retaining them.

The Trinamool Congress launched a tweet that attended to crossing out the words Union Budget 2024 and instead typing Andhra Bihar Budget.

Before speaking about the Union Budget, TMC leader Sushmita Dev said, “First of all, please release the Bengal funds.” Rs 1. The existing outstanding is 6 lakh crores.

Another area of social concern is unemployment, and this is another issue that the government has asked to be buried. To such extent, the Finance Minister has to pay much attention to the issue.”

In the course of several threads focused on X, Dev also pointed out that the updated Census has not been published. Using the words of the lady, she said that one could not talk of the Union Budget without it.

TMC leader Abhishek Banerjee tweeted in X saying even the budget is that of a failure, a FREE WARRANTY ZERO with a FAILED FINANCE MINISTER and a FAILED GOVERNMENT. What does our dear BJP decide to do, you ask?

To address issues such as unemployment, nontheories prices, and growing inflation—no the BJP creates a budget to lure their allies and buy time before the government collapses!”
