FM Sitharaman hits back at TMC’s budget criticism

Giving A Befitting Reply To Trinamool’s Budget Allegation, Nirmala Sitharaman’s ‘Audacity’

New Delhi: Speaking a day after she presented the Budget 2024, FM Nirmala Sitharaman today dismissed the charges of discrimination in the budget, saying that the situation does not permit the naming of every state in the speech.

Speaking to Rajya Sabha after opposition had walked out, Ms. Sitharaman said,

“It is rather unfortunate that the so-called opposition, particularly a senior leader, Mallikarjun Kharge, who got up to say all that he heard of the budget yesterday, I would have at least expected in honor of democracy that they at least stayed for this to listen to what I have to respond.”

“To the point where he (Kharge) questioned that you have not named many states, and you speak about two states only,” she said, adding, “

The Congress party has been in power for a very long time in this country.

They presented so many different budgets and would know well that institutions do not get opportunities for naming every state of this country in every budget.”.

The minister dialing the instance of Maharashtra, which was not mentioned in her budget speech on February 1 or yesterday. Our cabinet, under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has decided to establish a very, very big port at Vadhavan, Maharashtra.

Did Maharashtra not get attention because I did not mention the name? ₹ 76,000 crore have been announced for that project.

‘If the speech does not mention a particular state—dodoes it mean that schemes of the government of India, the programs of the government of India, and the external aided assistance we obtain do not reach these states?’ she fired.
