Foiled LoC attack: Soldier killed, four injured in clash with BAT

Indian Army manned a brave battle against the enemies of Pakistan’s BAT at the Line of Control in Kupwara, Jammu and Kashmir, resulting in the death of one Indian soldier and injuries to four, including a Major rank officer. This fire exchange also caused the death of a Pakistani terrorist.

BATs, which include the commandos from the Pakistan Army and terrorists, have earlier been reported to have attempted infiltration across the LoC. The second operation in the last three days took place in the district’s Karmani area following information about militant movement in the area.

All the injured and the dead soldiers were retrieved from the site of the operation as the exchange of firing was still on, the Army said. On X (ex: Twitter), the Chinar Corps acknowledged the incident of firing by unidentified persons at a forward post in Kamkari, Macchal Sector on LoC.

One of the sources told PTI that the action by the Border Action Team was pre-empted by Indian Army troops on Saturday morning in the Kamakari sector.

The source also disclosed that one of the invaders was neutralized, while the other two successfully escaped back into PoK during the hours-long exchange of firing.

This incident occurred barely three days after security forces eliminated an unidentified terrorist during an encounter at Kupwara Lolab, where a soldier was also martyred.

As per the sources, around 40 to 50 Pakistan Active trained terrorists are said to be operating in the higher altitudes of the hilly regions of Jammu Kashmir to eliminate which security forces have been carrying out massive Operation Таحث.

The above terrorists, who have formed themselves in the region, are trained and armed and have some of the most current and modern weapons, among others, including the America-made M4 Carbine Rifles with night vision attachment, the sources said.
