Forces bust abandoned terror hideout in J&K’s Poonch

Security forces recovered an abandoned terror hideout during a joint search operation in Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch district. The hideout in a forest cave at Dara Sangla was busted on March 10.

Officials said seven improvised explosive devices(IEDs), a wireless set, and some blankets were seized from the site. The cave hideout seemed to have remained unused for over two decades.

A preliminary investigation indicates that militant groups active in the area historically operated the hideout. No arrests have been made so far in the case.
Police have registered a formal First Information Report(FIR) to investigate further. Forces are investigating the cache’s purpose and origins. Such recoveries often provide leads about militant plans and collaborators.

Poonch along the Line of Control(LOC) has seen infiltration attempts in the past owing to its mountainous terrain aiding clandestine movement. The joint operation demonstrates the security forces’ aim to root out terror support infrastructure.
