The stench emanating from her body was so strong that passersby shuddered in disgust, turning their faces away. It did catch the attention of a police constable who was patrolling in the vicinity.
A woman’s smell led to her arrest after police found out that the source of the scent was a hidden illegal substance. This incident happened in the Matangi area of South Delhi, where the woman crossed a market. Her stench was so strong that it attracted people passing by, who turned their faces away in disgust.
Instructs that Head Constable Sanjeev of Ambedkar Nagar Police Station, during routine patrolling, perceived that smell. Recognising its specific smell to be narcotics smell, he promptly contacted other superior officials and asked to send another woman to get her there. And until further officers reached there, he followed their captive women closely.
Sub-Inspector Sonu Jha, Head Constable Sanjeev, and female constable Kamini reached the spot, detained the woman, and brought her to Ambedkar Nagar Police Station. A search revealed that a bag full of ganja caused the smell.
South District Deputy Commissioner of Police Ankit Chauhan said 2.20 kg of cannabis was recovered from her possession. She has been arrested, and charges have been brought against her under Section 20 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act.
