Four killed, including 2 soldiers, as terrorists target Indian army in Gulmarg

Two Indian Army jawans and two porters were killed Thursday (Oct 24) by terrorists who attacked their vehicle near Botpathri in the Gulmarg area of Kashmir, close to the Line of Control (LoC)- the de facto border between India and Pakistan. The vehicle belonged to the 18 Rashtriya Rifles (RR).

The terrorists attacked the vehicle when it was moving from Botpathri.

One terrorist has also suffered injury. Police have issued a statement confirming the incident.

The two civilian porters killed have been identified as

Mushtaq Ahmed Choudhary R/o Nowshehra Boniyar, Baramulla, and Zahoor Ahmad Mir R/o Barnate Boniyar, Baramulla. Further details awaited.

PDP chief Mehbooba Mufti took to X and wrote: “Shocked & deeply saddened by the militant attack on an army convoy in Baramulla in which a civilian porter has been killed.

Condemn it unequivocally & pray for the swift recovery of the injured soldiers.”.

The attack comes mere hours after Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah met Prime Minister Narendra Modi and presented a cabinet resolution advocating reinstatement of statehood to the state of J&K.

Jammu and Kashmir terror attacks: A terrorist attack occurred close to a week after the Pakistan-based terrorists had hijacked an Indian Army vehicle and killed seven Indian soldiers in the Kupwara district near LoC.

Terror attacks in the past few months have been observed to rise in alarming proportions in Jammu and Kashmir. On Oct 20, at the Ganderbal construction site, terrorists carried out a deadly attack on at least seven people, six of whom were laborers.

The attackers thought to be two, opened indiscriminate fire on the group, comprising both locals and non-locals.

Two laborers died on the spot, and the doctor, along with four other laborers, were reported dead later. Five people are critically injured and currently under treatment.
