A fraudulent National Cadet Corps (NCC) camp in Krishnagiri, Tamil Nadu, has led to the arrest of eleven individuals, including a Naam Tamilar Katchi functionary.
The arrests follow the alleged sexual assault of a Class 8 girl during the camp, which was held in Bargur. District Collector K.M. Sarayu confirmed the arrests, including the prime suspect who organized the camp, as well as several school authorities.
According to Collector Sarayu, the arrests were made in connection with the sexual assault and abuse reported at the fake NCC camp. The district administration is now offering counseling and psychological support to the victims and their families through the district child protection unit.
The NCC headquarters has distanced itself from the incident, clarifying that no official NCC camp was conducted in the area and emphasizing that those involved had no affiliation with the NCC.
The fraudulent camp, which occurred about a week ago, involved 41 students, including 17 girls. The issue was uncovered when the survivor reported the incident to her parents, prompting a police complaint.
The NCC headquarters has condemned the misinformation suggesting their involvement, clarifying that the incident has no connection to any NCC-registered institutions or personnel.
The statement from the NCC highlighted the misleading nature of the reports and stressed the need for accurate information.
