Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari said on Tuesday that the changes in the cost of fuel and road could bring down the logistic cost in the country to nine percent. He spoke at the Rising Rajasthan Global Investment Summit 2024 held in Jaipur, highlighting how such savings will substantially raise the export capacities of the State.
Gadkari said, “If there is a change in your fuel and road prices, we can reduce India’s logistics costs by nine percent within two years. If it is done here in Rajasthan, the gap comes down from 16 percent to nine percent, and therefore, that makes the state quite competitive in exports.
He mentioned that only four important pillars, water, power, transport, and communication, have to be emphasized to achieve the aims of Atmanirbhar Bharat and make India an economy of the third ranking. “These four infrastructures must be strong for the development of any nation. Their development will attract investment in capital, leading to industrial growth, trade, and business. This again will increase prospects of employment and per capita income, lifting people above poverty. Making India a Vishwaguru (world leader) requires empowering our states economically,” Gadkari remarked.
The Union Minister even added that the promotion of ethanol production would help contribute towards the agricultural economy. “Encourage major companies in Rajasthan to shift from petrol to ethanol. This way, all the farmers can produce ethanol with the help of crops prepared through maize, sorghum, millet, spoiled grains, etc. Whenever vehicles move on ethanol-based products, it will, directly or indirectly, translate to the prosperity of local farmers,” he said.
The second day of the Rising Rajasthan Global Investment Summit 2024 attracted global investors, industry leaders, and policymakers. A series of thematic sessions was held during the day, which had been organized by various departments of the state government.
