Legendary Indian cricket team skipper Sunil Gavaskar took a brutal dig at the Australian media on Wednesday following Jasprit Bumrah and Co’s stunning victory in the first test match in Perth.
India completely outplayed the Aussies, winning by 295 runs in a historic victory that gives India a 1-0 lead in the five-match series. After the victory, Gavaskar recalled that the Australian media had been scathing in their criticism of Indian cricket or the cricketers on several occasions earlier and that India’s win in Perth proved them wrong.
The Indian cricket team had won here only in 2008. Gavaskar also recalled that it was soon after the Australian media severely criticized the Indian cricket team over the Andrew Symonds-Harbhajan Singh controversy. He mentioned that the Australian press criticized even Suryakumar Yadav’s catch in the T20 World Cup 2024 final.
