The investigation into the death of a property dealer in Ghaziabad has taken a grim turn. It has now come to light that the 34-year-old property dealer, Sanjay Yadav of Ghaziabad, was choked to death instead of dying in a fire. Though his charred body was recovered on Tuesday night inside a Toyota Fortuner SUV, police said he was allegedly murdered by two friends following a beer party.
The police have arrested both the accused, and as per the reports, after killing Yadav, they looted his jewelry, put his body inside the SUV, and then set it on fire. A burnt vehicle was recovered in a forested area of Dadri on Monday night.
The relatives of Yadav informed the police that he had gone to meet his friends, and thus, his friends were suspected of his murder. Based on the information, police registered a case and arrested the suspects.
Interrogation revealed Vishal and Jeet to be positive, and the duo confessed before the police to have committed the murder. According to them, three of them were drinking together on Monday evening. They choked Yadav with a dog leash and stole valuables from him, they said. Then they put his body in the back seat of the SUV and set the vehicle on fire using petrol. Jeet has received minor burns while trying to set the SUV on fire, it is learned.
Cash, two gold rings, one bracelet, and one chain of gold have been recovered from the accused by the authorities, in addition to the dog chain with which the murder was committed.
“Accused Vishal Rajput and Jeet Choudhary intoxicated Yadav before strangling him to death using the collar of a dog. They went to an isolated area to dispose of the body and burnt the SUV, along with its door locked. The accused were sent to jail, and further investigation is in process,” said Additional DCP of Greater Noida Ashok Kumar.
